John W. Wells, RRO
Senior Partner & President
John Wells is the Senior Partner and President of Wells Klein Consulting Group Inc. (formerly J.W. Wells Consulting Inc.). John is an accepted independent roofing inspector accredited by the Roofing Contractors Association of British Columbia (RCABC) and brings over forty years of construction experience to his firm. John is a Registered Roof Observer (RRO), accredited by the Roofing Consultants Institute (RCI) of Raleigh, NC. John has been certified in Supreme Court of BC as an expert and has presented expert testimony in court. Mr. Wells is located in Victoria, British Columba, Canada.
Before beginning his Consulting Practice in 1992, John Wells served for six years as Technical Manager of the Roofing Contractors Association of B.C. John played a major role in the redevelopment of the Roofing Practices Manual and gained international recognition for his work with RCABC and their unique Guarantee Program.
Prior to working with RCABC, John was employed as a technical representative with Sarnafil Canada Ltd., a leading manufacturer of PVC single ply roof systems. He served as Branch Manager for the Construction Products Division of W.R. Grace of Canada for nine of his twelve years with that firm. His early construction experience was gained while working in various field and office positions for a major general construction company in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
John received his education in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan. He is also an alumnus of the Roofing Industry Educational Institute and a life long recipient of and proponent for continuing education.
John Wells was the founding President of the B.C. Building Envelope Council and served as an elected director for 10 years, a past chapter executive member of Construction Specifications Canada, past member of the Inter Governmental Roofing Advisory Group, past member of the RCABC Technical Committee, a Professional Member of the Roofing Consultants Institute, and a former elected director (President 2001-2002) of the RCI Western Canada Chapter. In 2010, John was elected for a 2 year term to the Board of Directors of RCI, Inc., and also serves on the Technical Advisory Committee of RCI, Inc.
John has been a guest lecturer at the U.B.C. School of Architecture, BCIT and the Roofing Institute. Wells has authored many technical articles in Roofing Trade Publications and is a regular speaker at Building Seminars and Technical Societies as well as National and International Roofing Conventions.
John has a life long interest in aviation and received his pilot’s license at age 16. Flying is now pretty much restricted to computer simulator programs!
Golf came into John’s life about 25 years ago and became and still is his passion. John joined Gorge Vale Golf Club 10 years ago, and presently serves on the Membership and Marketing Committee. The only thing higher than his interest in the game is his handicap!
